Welcome to Bacon & Happiness!

Hello you awesome you! And thanks for stopping by! You're probably wondering what this place is? Bacon and happiness? What a cliché! Well, it might be, but I think those two ingredients make up important parts of my life, so why not name my blog that? So there! Name question answered, just like that!

I've been very interested in many things throughout my life. Sports. Birds. Cocktail stirrers. But it was in 2010 when I made the most important decision of my life (so far, that is. I'm, after all, only 26...): I began to be interested in my own health. It has been a difficult journey, full of ups and downs, but that's completely natural. It's life. These past 3 years, I've found a way to eat that works for me, and I've also learned to let go of the stress about making the right choices 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Life is for living!

I've thought about telling my own story in some form, and finally settled on starting a blog. I wanted to gather my thoughts about all things nutrition&health in one place. Here I'll be posting my thoughts and opinions, in addition to links to blogs and articles, recipes and other information that has helped me, and could help others. I should probably say at this point the mandatory part. ”I am not a doctor/nurse and you should always consult your physician before changing your diet”. Yeah yeah we all know that. And sometimes doctors can be wrong too, and they can be affected by certain things. Just wanted to put it out there. So don't sue me, ok? This will be my blog, based on my experiences, opinions and ideas, and if YOU, the reader, have questions, I'll try answer from my knowledge and experience, or refer you to other sources that might be able to help.

You'll very soon notice that I have many men in my life. In addition to my husband, I also like several other guys. Here's a few: Gary Taubes, Michael Eades, Tom Naughton, Robert Lustig, just to name a few. I also totally love Sally Fallon, Mary Enig, Mary Dan Eades, and other fabulous women, that are working towards making us all a little healthier. If these names ring a bell, you'll know what this blog will be like.

Here's a list of just a few topics I will be bringing up on here: organic and local foods, nutrition, paleo, Big Ag, Big Pharma, sugar, fat, carbs, GMO's and obviously BACON!

So relax, grab some bacon, and enjoy the ride! :)
